Three years after its establishment as the only private college in the country, the Royal Thimphu College celebrated the graduation of its first batch of students. It was a historical event for the students, the RTC, and the country as the college presents Bhutan with its first batch of RTC graduates in programs ranging from B.Com. and BBA to BA's in many fields including Computer Applications, a new program developed at RTC to help the country meet its goal of expanding activity in the IT area. The celebration was held on Tuesday, July 3 at the Royal Thimphu College Auditorium.
The Honorable Prime Minister, Lyonchen Jigmi Y Thinley, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests such as the Minister of Economic Affairs, officials from the Ministry of Education, members of the University Council, representatives from various organizations, and the family and well-wishers of the graduating students were present to be a part of the event. The celebration also was honored by the presence of Her Royal Highness, Ashi Kesang Wangmo Wangchuck, the promoter of the Royal Thimphu College.
His Excellency, Lyonchen Jigmi Y Thinley, awarded the 232 graduating students with course completion certificates. In addition, students who exhibited excellence in academics as well as outstanding leadership were awarded medals by HRH Ashi Kesang Wangmo Wangchuck.
RTC shared its students' excitement at this historic celebration and wishes them the best in their new endeavors.
